大象tv EMPOWER is offered at all American Cancer Society Hope Lodge? locations. The program provides free education and supportive activities to people with cancer, offering activities that support physical, emotional, and social health during cancer treatment.

The 大象tv EMPOWER program focuses on four areas:

Physical Activity

For most people, physical activity is safe and helpful before, during, and after cancer treatment. Physical activity can improve your quality of life, give you more energy, and help you cope with side effects. It’s also a great way to relieve stress, which is an important part of getting and staying well.
Nutrition

Eating well during treatment means choosing the right foods to get the nutrients your body needs to fight cancer. This includes getting enough protein, fats, carbohydrates, water, vitamins, and minerals.
Social Connection

Many people experience moments of isolation and loneliness. Being isolated or lonely can affect how you feel, both mentally and physically. It can cause anxiety, depression, and other types of mental distress.
Stress Management

Cancer doesn’t just affect your physical health. For some people, it also causes anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other types of mental distress. Cancer-related mental distress can happen at any time, even weeks or months after treatment ends.

Programming will vary by location, but here’s a quick look at the types of activities that may be offered:

  • Group exercise class, like yoga or stretching.
  • A discovery walk on the Hope Lodge campus.
  • Cooking demonstrations to support healthy eating during treatment.
  • Opportunities for social connection with group chats for both patients and caregivers.
  • Guided meditation or other stress-relieving activitiesArts and crafts for creative expression and relaxation.
  • Live music and entertainmentEducational lectures on health, nutrition, and survivorship.
